Simon Fraser University Kendo Club

Kendo @ Burnaby mountain

Welcome to Simon Fraser University Kendo Club

As part of the recreational program at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia Canada, the SFU Kendo Club is open to all members of the public and not just university students. We practice kendo and iaido year round and welcome experienced guests and curious beginners.

For the most up to date information or to get a hold of us, we highly recommend you check out our Facebook page where many of our members are active.

The SFU Kendo Club was founded in 2001 by Hirokazu Okusa (7th-dan) with seven members. Today it has flourished into a full-fledged club of many dedicated kenshi.

In 2010, we added an Iaido component lead by Sandra Jorgenson (6th-dan) and Hiro Okusa. This class focuses on the Zen Nippon Kendo Renmei (Seite) style and the Muso Shinden style.

SFU Kendo Club is part of the British Columbia Kendo Federation (BCKF) and the Canadian Kendo Federation (CKF)

Please feel free to contact us if you have questions or would like to get in touch with an instructor.

We look forward to practicing with you!
